Extremely Disappointing Experience with Champion Windows – Poor Customer Service and Lack of Communication

Updated by user Nov 07, 2024

Updated 11/7/2024Since my last update on October 27, my experience with Champion Windows has continued to be frustrating, with no real resolution in sight despite escalating the issue to upper management.Recent Developments:October 31, 2024: I spoke with Tim Young, a Vice President at Champion, who acknowledged some of my concerns but offered only minimal compensation (less than 5% discount - yet they can charge me 30% of my down payment if I cancel.). While I appreciated the conversation, this offer doesn’t address the considerable time and expense I’ve already invested in managing this project myself due to Champion's continued mismanagement and lack of communication.November 4, 2024: I followed up with Tim via email, providing detailed notes from our call and requesting acknowledgment or additional information.

I hoped this would establish a foundation for improved communication. Disappointingly, Tim has been unresponsive, with no acknowledgment of my efforts to document our interactions or of my request for a clear project timeline.November 7, 2024: I’ve updated my online reviews across platforms, including Google and Yelp, to reflect the ongoing delays and lack of communication from Champion. I have also filed a formal complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office in an effort to get Champion’s attention on this matter.Ongoing Concerns:Lack of Accountability and Communication: Champion’s team has consistently failed to communicate with me, leaving me to chase down updates and manage the project myself. Even escalating to a VP level has resulted in little action, with no clear plan or timeline in place for completion.Unprofessional Conduct: I still have not received a formal written apology for the project manager’s unprofessional behavior during his February visit, where he urinated on my property.

This shocking incident set a negative tone from the beginning, and the lack of acknowledgment from Champion has only compounded my frustration.Significant Financial and Time Costs: I’ve now invested over 80 hours and incurred approximately $10,000 in costs due to delays, time lost, and my need to manage what should have been Champion's responsibility. My previous projects with county permits did not experience these issues, further underscoring Champion’s lack of efficiency and attention.ConclusionDespite numerous follow-ups, complaints, and escalations, Champion Windows has failed to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism and customer service.

I regret choosing this company and caution other homeowners to carefully consider other reviews on platforms like Yelp, Trustpilot, and ConsumerAffairs before working with Champion Windows. My experience has been one of extreme delays, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior, and I sincerely hope my reviews help other consumers make an informed choice.

I regret choosing Champion Windows for my home project. From the beginning, this experience has been filled with mismanagement, lack of communication, and significant unprofessional behavior.

Despite high hopes when I signed the contract in February 2024, the journey has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.Timeline of Events:February 8, 2024: I signed a contract with Champion Windows to install an enclosure on my second-story deck. The sales process was smooth, and I felt optimistic about the project.February 17, 2024: The project manager visited my home to verify measurements. During this visit, I found him urinating on the side of my house. This unprofessional and disturbing behavior set a troubling tone for the entire project.May & June 2024: I met with the project manager and an engineer to reconfirm measurements.

Despite these efforts, Champion remained non-responsive, requiring me to repeatedly chase updates.August 1, 2024: After months of delays, Champion finally submitted the permit application to Thurston County. No explanation was provided for the excessive delay, and it became clear that the engineering team failed to submit the correct documentation earlier.September 26, 2024: Thurston County informed us that an HCP (Habitat Conservation Plan) application was needed. While there were no mitigation fees, the project was delayed once more.October 3, 2024: The project manager claimed to have spent an entire day retrieving a document from the county, despite the county having emailed the form a week prior. This inefficient behavior further showcased poor project management.October 14, 2024: I spoke with the regional sales manager, who acknowledged the issues and offered compensation by replacing a door and window at no cost.

However, this was a small gesture compared to the significant inconvenience and stress I’ve experienced.Key Issues:Lack of Communication: From start to finish, I have had to chase updates and repeatedly ask for information. Champion failed to be proactive in communicating project status, leaving me to manage many aspects myself.Unprofessional Behavior: The project manager urinating on my home was not only unprofessional but also highly disturbing. Such behavior should never be acceptable in any business.Continuous Delays: Simple tasks took months to complete, and Champion consistently missed deadlines. It took them six months to submit basic permitting documents, and even then, they failed to handle it efficiently.Mismanagement: As a customer, I found myself taking on tasks that should have been handled by Champion.

From direct coordination with the county to following up on incomplete paperwork, I had to manage this project more than the company did. Conclusion:Working with Champion Windows has been a highly stressful experience. Their lack of accountability, mismanagement, and failure to meet basic customer expectations make it impossible for me to recommend them. This is not what I signed up for when I chose Champion, and it is certainly not the quality of service I paid for.If you are considering Champion Windows, please think twice. Their failures to communicate, manage, and deliver on commitments have made this an incredibly frustrating and stressful ordeal.

I hope this review helps others make a more informed decision.User Recommendation: Avoid Champion Windows if you value professionalism, accountability, and efficient project management. Based on my experience, they are not equipped to handle projects of this nature.

I had high hopes when I signed a contract with Champion Windows in February 2024 for a custom enclosure on my second-story deck, but my experience has been nothing short of frustrating, disappointing, and unprofessionaleven reaching the executive level.
Key Issues & Timeline:
February 8, 2024: Signed the contract. The sales process was smooth, and I felt confident in Champions promises.
February 17, 2024: During his first visit to my home to verify measurements, the project manager shocked me by exposing himself and urinating on the side of my house.

This disturbing, unprofessional behavior was not only unacceptable but set a deeply negative tone for the entire project, and I have yet to receive a formal written apology from Champion for this incident.
May-June 2024: Despite my repeated follow-ups, there was no clear communication on project progress. Conversations were vague and provided no real updates.
August 1, 2024: After months of delays, the permit application was finally submitted to Thurston Countymuch later than expected due to miscommunication and errors within Champions team.
September 26, 2024: Thurston County informed us of additional Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) requirements, but Champion failed to inform me. I had to reach out myself to get clarification on these requirements.
October 14, 2024: After raising repeated complaints, Champion offered to replace a door and window on my property as compensation. While I appreciated the gesture, it did not address the fundamental issues of mismanagement, lack of professionalism, and extreme delays.

I requested a discount to reflect the extensive time and effort I had invested to manage Champions responsibilities, but this was denied.
October 31 & November 4, 2024: I reached out to Tim Young, a VP at Champion, in the hopes of escalating the matter to get better accountability and communication. Unfortunately, his lack of follow-up and response has only further demonstrated the unprofessionalism Ive encountered at every level within Champion.
Overall Experience & Impact
Over the past 9+ months, Ive invested more than 80 hours in emails, phone calls, and direct coordination with county officials to manage a project Champion was contracted to handle. This experience has caused over $10,000 in additional costs and lost time. Champions inability to manage or communicate about the project has left me without a clear timeline for completion and feeling constantly neglected.
Conclusion
Champion Windows has failed to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism and customer service.

From the project managers shocking behavior of exposing himself and urinating on my property to poor communication, endless delays, and unresponsiveness from upper management, this experience has been exhausting and costly. I regret choosing Champion Windows and strongly advise others to consider the numerous poor reviews across platforms like PissedConsumer, Yelp, Trustpilot, and ConsumerAffairs before making a decision.

User's recommendation: If you're considering working with Champion Windows for an enclosure project, I highly urge you to reconsider. The level of mismanagement, lack of communication, and disregard for customer satisfaction has made this an incredibly frustrating experience. Champion Windows must take ownership of their projects and start delivering the service customers expect. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend them based on my experience.

Left holes in my house broken sliding door

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

They installed windows that were way too small, then they left! I can get my hand and arm through the sides!

The slider door was so much too small, they got boards from Lowes, then long screws and it's not in, really! I have pictures, videos, etc. They have sent 5 people to see it. It's been 7 months now!

There are lots of bad reviews in multiple states, and they say it's a lifetime warranty but they won't even finish or fix the installation. Then they act like we are in the wrong for wanting what we ordered. They took the final payment illegally from the credit too, then got mad when we took it back! They are frauds, liars, thieves!

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with! We've remodeled houses before but have never seen anything this bad! RUN from them!

They try to cover massive holes with cheap Lowes peel and stick trim that's paper thin! RUN from this company, it's horrible!

HORRIBLE COMPNAY

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

HORRIBLE COMPANY. We had $10,000 window installed over a month ago and by the time they were done there was a lot wrong.

One of the windows dosnt even open because its so tight, there is several nails sticking out of the framing, the same framing that is 1inch away from the wall because theres something behind it pushing it away from the wall, glass all over my front yard(been a month and im still picking up pieces of glass). Now we addressed these issues with our representative which they had an inspector come out and he agreed with all of the problems i addressed so they setup and appointment to come out and fix these issues. THIS *** COMPANY *** DIDNT SHOW UP AND ARE NOW GHOSTING ALL OF OUR CALLS.

IF THIS DOES NOT GET RESOLVED WE WILL BE PRESSING CHARGES. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE COMPANY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

We ordered our windows in October 2023 and didn't start the installation until the end of January 2024. The order was not completed; one window was missing, and another was measured incorrectly but installed anyway because the original window was removed and broken.

It was re-measured, and I was told it had a rush order on it. I received a call from Carissa, a customer service representative from Champion windows in Ohio, on June 11, 2024. She said that her notes stated the job was complete, but she knew it wasn't and was making sure it got ordered and installed ASAP, promising to call me back.

Seven days later and no call back, she will not answer when I call the number she gave me. The Champion Windows in Tulsa was the worst place I have ever done business with.

Started in May to get the door adjusted. Sent Steve, but he messed it up.

I purchased a sunroom in February 2023 and the sunroom was completely in oct 20 . During the process they had a sub contractor come out and dug a big trench in my backyard and they left this in my backyard for 5 months and I complained about it so much but they still ignored my request but I got corporate involved and they got this situation resolved but in the meantime they destroyed my backyard and zero scape with a lot of dirt on top of the rocks and the grass was totally destroyed nothing but dirt.

Mr. Doug said they was going to take care of my yard but October is to get my yard fixed because its the winter months and he said we can take care of it the first of March but nothing has happened as of today and I talk to Mr.

Doug he said yes we going to get somebody out there but nothing and hes never got back with me and he want answer his phone and the voicemail is full. This is sad the way Champions take care of their customer.

The company has not responded to our attorney’s letter regarding this matter. The case has been turned over from the licensing board to the Attorney General Criminal Division.

We also found out our windows are not NFRC certified for being energy saving, which is what we had ordered. We were not aware they were supposed to have NFRC labels and once we found out the NFRC opened an investigation. We have also found out they illegally used another Champions builders license, because they are not licensed. The licensing agency is also investigating that.

The licensing agency asked our ocal inspector to write a report, which was originally done since they never finished the job.

There were multiple code violations. Nothing has been resolved, but we will not stop until we have educated consumers about how awful their practices are.

Updated by user Mar 26, 2023

We have filed a complaint forms with the licensing bureau, AG of Michigan, AG of Indiana, and Better Business Bureau. We have reached out to the local office, who sent the letter, with very little help.

My husband did speak to a manager who admitted they send these letters from corporate, and they want you to sign off on the completion so they can put a lien on your home and send you to collections, even if they did not complete the job. We found out they cannot put a lien on our home because they did not file within 90 days and that is why the letter was dated three 3/14/23 for date of completion rather than stating, they walked away from the job in March 2022.

Original review Mar 26, 2023
We entered into a contract 4/1/21 with Champion Windows to replace all of our windows. The windows arrive to be installed in August 2021, but half of them did not fit so they had to be reordered.

In addition to them not fitting we question the actual workmanship of the window sashes. The welding was bad, there was plastic that was cut in certain spots that was sharp on handles, there were gaps, holes, and many more issues with the actual quality of the product. Over the course of the next 6 to 7 months the company came to install the windows that have been ordered only to find out that windows have been ordered the wrong size again. I think we had a total of five or six service visits where they attempted to install windows, they did not fit, and none of the windows were still fitting.

When they came to install the windows at the second service appointment they actually took all of our old windows out, so even the sashes that did not fit were left despite the fact that there were gaps and areas visible to the outdoors because they were so small. They attempted to fix it with blue painters, tape around all of the edges of our windows for months because they could not get the measurements correct. It was during winter and to date we have many bad drafts with the windows. Things became so out of hand that in December 2021 we met with the regional manager who came from Ohio to our home in Michigan to look at the windows where he agreed the quality of the product and the lack of correct sizes were so bad he agreed to re-order every single sash for every single window and promised they would be fully inspected for quality before they left the factory.

We attempted to communicate with them for the next few months wondering where the windows were and then we were finally told in the middle of March they had arrived and were inspected and a service man came on March 15 to install them and guess what they didnt fit. At that point we continue to question if it could be the actual frames because the installation on the very first attempt did not go so well because they did things very poorly so we are wondering if maybe the frames themselves were wrong. On March 15, The manager said he would figure out what he would do next and let us know. We did not hear back from him so we contacted another manager who told us to please make a list of everything that still needed to be done, which we did and we sent to them on March 23, 2022.

It was a Google Docs so we have verification they did view it. We have not heard from them since. We attempted to reach out to them numerous times, and all of our text messages, phone calls and emails went unanswered. In our contract it stated that we would pay upon completion of the job.

Our contract did state the job would be completed within 1 to 5 business days after it started and we gave them grace on that, but after 2 months of not hearing from them (over 7 months from the date of the first install) we called an attorney who told us to just wait for them to call us because they are the ones breaching the contract with walking away from the job. 4 days ago we received a letter in the mail, 12 months after they stopped all forms of communication with us, demanding we sign a completion form and pay $13,000. The letter also stated at the completion of the job was March 14, 2023. They have not spoken to us since March 23, 2022.

Due to issues that we had at the beginning of the process with them I documented everything, videos, photos, emails, and I even have signed documentation from service workers about things that are wrong. The demand letter states that they are to receive the signed completion form, which was not even included in the package they sent, and the payment by March 28, 2023.
The photos I attached are just of quality as the videos I have show everything else. Every single window looks like a kindergartener built and installed it. My son even cut his hand opening his window last year and they sent a service guy early 2022 to file all of the sharp spots, as we were told it would void our warranty if we did it.

It did not fix all of the sharp areas. We even had a service tech sign a letter with all of the things wrong because he said they were not fixable and we should request all new sashes and frames.

We asked for caulk we could paint as we were doing a home remodel and were painting trim and they failed to do that. We also requested silicone that matched the trim when they were installing the frames in August 2021 and the guy said all he had was clear and refused to stop a job to go get the correct color silicone and told us no worries it would be fine and clearly it is not.

Poor service and unfinished work

We ordered the windows in Oct 2023 and finally got them installed the last week in Jan 2024, but the factory didn't make 1 of our windows , they measured 1 window wrong and our sliding door opens from the wrong side. Installers run out of the trim for the outside of the windows and never came back to finish the job and with the wind blowing the rain all around some of them.

I got a call from the regional manage Steve saying my windows were coming in on Feb 20,2024 and never heard back from him even after texting him. They are still installing other customers windows but for some reason can't finish mine.
